IRL Streaming On Twitch: What You Must Know

IRL Streaming On Twitch: What You Must Know

A growing niche and perhaps the most popular niche on Twitch today is the “Just Chatting” niche. Actually, an even more popular niche is IRL aka “In Real Life.” People want information in real-time today. In real life streaming has made this popular today.

Think about it, not that long ago we were all dreaming about this technology in our sleep. Now we’re able to show thousands, even millions of people what we are up to in real time. The best part, there’s an opportunity to make a lot of money doing so. Today I’m going to cover everything I know about the IRL niche and how you can profit from it today.

Everything You Need To Know About IRL

Here’s a quick rundown of everything you need to know about the IRL niche on Twitch and why you many have used it to profit big time today. In case you missed it the first time, IRL streaming is the streaming of anything that’s not business or gaming.

It’s a category on Twitch which encompasses lots of different topics and sub-niches. This sports, food, cooking, ASMR, fitness, beauty, music, everyday life topics, the list goes on for days.

People have been streaming and covering these topics for years on multiple platforms. Think about Instagram, Facebook, YouTube. How many live streams do you come across covering everyday life? Probably a ton right! While many IRL streams exist on those other platforms, the king of IRL is Twitch.

The Twitch IRL Category

Twitch launched the IRL category in late 2016 and since then it’s developed into a community that people love. As the category popularity exponentially grew, so did the way they categorized the IRL content. Twitch made it easier for viewers to find streams that they’re looking for. They did this by expanding categories and creating sub-categories like Music, Just Chatting, Food & Drink etc. The Just Chatting division is by far the largest.

What’s IRL Entail?

Here’s how Just Chatting on Twitch typically works. This typically comprises some attractive host or hostess and an audience just watching the experiences happen broadcasted from a LTE/5G phone. Think about that for a second. That literally makes connecting with others and viewing nearly effortless.

This gives Twitch users a soapbox to talk about anything they’d like and it allows them to broadcast pretty easily and quickly. But we must as ourselves, why? What’s the purpose of doing all this?

Some people just want to be heard. They want their voice and opinion to be heard by many. Others may simply enjoy sharing whatever they can whenever they can. Then there are those who do this purely for fame and fortune. My guess is that many people are using Twitch and IRL to be heard and build up their bank account.

Making Money On IRL

IRL streaming is a big business and it’s supported directly by donations. On Twitch the gaming streams now typically take a back seat to the IRL section. There are many ways to monetize IRL streams. Some of the most popular ways are listed below.

Donations

This is by far the most common way that people make money as an IRL streamer. As you kickstart your journey, plan on only starting with donations. Viewers can tip the streamers. They’re able to do so by adding PayPal and Patreon buttons to their bio. There are tools out there the streamers can use as well, but this is typically where people get started. PayPal is just fine for the beginner.

Speaking of donations, here’s a video of some streamers getting tips. It’s pretty funny and worth a play.

Subscriptions

Once you’ve built up an audience, you can create a subscription. Some Twitch streamers require payment from viewers and those payments typically are recurring between $4.99 and $24.99 a month. If you’re going to try and take the subscription route, it’s important to remember to be consistent with your streaming or people will cancel.

Endorsements

If you make it this far, then you’ve hit the big leagues. This is influencer marketing at it’s best and probably pays the best as well. Top IRL streamers can earn thousands of dollars through a quick plugging of a brand or two during their streaming.

Popular IRL Streams On Twitch

This will give you some further insight into which IRL streams are hot and popular on Twitch today. I’ve covered some of the most popular streams/channels below.

Maya Higa – This streamer is an animal lover and conservationist. She streams her insight into the natural world. If you’re a big fan of Animal Planet or National Geographic, then you’ll love her.

Wild Earth – Another amazing nature channel for the nature fans out there. This is a safari stream showing off the natural beauty of Djuma Game Reserve. Again, a must see for the animal lover.
